Packaging

The box as display case.¹ Both designs reference the way institutions present objects of significance, flat-open format, neutral inner tray, no decoration.² The year printed large on both boxes reads as a catalogue entry, not product information.³ A timestamp. From there, each box develops its own graphic language, off-white for Parfum, black with a dot motif for Dots.⁴ The object inside is not revealed. It is disclosed.⁵

¹ Informed by how archives house objects, not how retail presents products. ² The conventions of storage and display, not of gifting. ³ 1994 for Parfum, 2015 for Dots. ⁴ Each fragrance retains its own identity within a shared structure. ⁵ A reveal implies surprise. A disclosure implies the object was already known to be significant.
