Green + Form

A fragrance built on a theory that might not be true.¹ The Vibration Theory of Olfaction proposes that smell is frequency, that what the nose detects is not shape but vibration, moving through molecules the way light moves through air.² This is contested. It is also beautiful.³ GREEN + FORM takes it seriously anyway and asks one question: if green light has a frequency, and smell has a frequency, could green ever be a scent?⁴ The answer is probably no. The fragrance is named Greenish accordingly.⁵ The bottle does not know it might be wrong. This is part of its charm.⁶

Type — Self-initiated concept Fragrance name — “Greenish” Frequency — ~55 THz (odour molecule) / ~550 THz (green light)

¹ This is considered a feature, not a problem. ² First proposed by Malcolm Dyson in 1928, revived by Luca Turin in 1996. Still unresolved. ³ The Docking Theory — smell as lock and key — is more widely accepted. GREEN + FORM finds this less interesting. ⁴ The question was asked in full sincerity. The answer was not waited for. ⁵ Greenish — honest about where certainty ends. ⁶ No physical fragrance was produced.
